Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Shield

We might have avoided ant seriously wet weather this year but when it hits, inevitably, the runners amongst you might want to consider the new Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Shield sneaker.

Nike tell us their product team began developing the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit over two years ago, with the goal of creating a running shoe with a virtually vanishing fit, fluid feel and superior softness that adapts to the body in motion.

The Shield variant of the Nike LunarEpic Flyknit offers the same benefits but with added all-weather construction. The Shield shoe benefits from a one-piece Flyknit upper constructed with DWR (durable, water-repellent)-coated TPU yarn and a water-repellant internal bootie to keep the foot warm and dry. Nike have also included a laser-siped outsole pattern- inspired by grooved car tyres to increase surface area, repel water and further maximise traction.

The shoe was researched and tested with a variety of geometric outsole patterns with winter-runners on the snow and mud-filled trails of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. And again in early spring where the snowmelt conditions required increased traction and water resistance. The resulting tyre-like pattern was then precision-lasered into the IU foam sole, preserving heel-to-toe transitions and propelling energy return.

The Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Shield is available November 3 at nike.com and other Nike retailers.
