Ape to Manchester- City Guide

It wasn’t long ago that Manchester was listed in the top ten best places to visit in the world for 2016, and it’s not hard to understand why. The city has become increasingly popular with tourists from home and aboard as more and more holidaymakers venture there for fashion, food and weekends away. Just two hours on the train out of London gets you to the heart of Manchester and a whole city to explore.

Expedia.co.uk has launched their new collection of unique experiences from all over Great Britain so we teamed up with Expedia for a day of stylish, Mancunian sight seeing.

09.00 Inspired by military influenced chic, luxury British fashion brand Private White V.C gives you the rare opportunity to see how their clothes are put together. Take a tour round their factory and observed pattern cutting, pressing, sowing and quality control, using original machinery including a 100-year old bandsaw.

Explore The Fashionable Northern Quarter

12:00 After learning how clothes are made, take the time to wander through the trendy Northern Quarter of Manchester to check out some of the coolest up and coming fashion brands. While exploring the area, be sure to pop by the flagship store of local brand Oi Polloi. Opened in 2002, this immersive shop stocks a mix of classic and contemporary threads.

Refuel at Foundation Coffee

14:00 When in need of a quick pit stop, Foundation coffee stands out for its design-led ‘industrial’ interior. However, not content with this, they also make some seriously delicious coffee – oh, and their morning pastries are not to be missed.

Chill at Ziferblat

17:00 A seriously innovative place is Ziferblat, a space where you pay for the time spent there, not the food and drink. Cool concepts like this are becoming commonplace throughout the city so why not drop by to check it out as the night starts to fall.

Food At Black Dog Ballroom

19:00 A hard day of exploring can be rewarded at one of the many culinary treats in Manchester. One such treat is Black Dog Ballroom, a speak-easy tucked below the iconic Afflek’s Palace in the North Quarter that serves a range of cocktails and pizza. If this isn’t enough for you though, you can plump for their famous cheeseburger pizza – sounds strange, tastes delicious.
