London Architects Levitate, who specialise in developing sustainable architecture, developed this book/staircase with a view to saving space. Amazon’s Kindle lovers may balk at wasted space when you could have the entire library on one device, not so the traditionalists; truly a book lover’s idea of a stairway to heaven.

Originally designed as a space saving mechanism, its undoubted originality and modern appeal could see such fixtures become more commonplace in modern architecture.
