Opening: Shinola, London

Detroit-based manufacturer Shinola expanded their outlets last week with the addition of a new standalone store in London, their first outside of the United States. Stocking a full assortment of Shinola watches, leather goods and bicycles, the new outlets arrival offers English clients the perfect opportunity to invest in some of the brands popular American-made wares.

Nestled in Newburgh Quarter, a compact shopping district just off the busy thoroughfare of Carnaby Street, the stores organised interior holds a generous spread of products to peruse, with our favourites being the company’s range of desirable, industrial-looking watches, housed in various glass cases and cabinets around the space. Downstairs, customers can are able to view the Shinola bicycle range comprised of two models, the Bixby, a streamlined cruiser, and the Runwell, a functional city bike, which Ape took for a spin back in September.

With Shinola setting-up-shop outside of the U.S. it seems likely that the company’s popularity will continue to rise. But their hallmarks remain the same. “We’re building things that are designed to last. Nothing frivolous gets through,” says Shinola President Jacques Panis at the store. When asked what words he would use to define Shinola to a newcomer: “Authentic, hand-crafted.”

With the doors open for business at this comfortable new outlet, Londoners can now encounter these products first hand and discover for themselves the appeal of American-made.

Shinola is located at 13 Newburgh Street, London, W1F 7RS.
