Zenith El Primero Watch

The first basic designs of the El Primero movement began to come together in 1962 with a view to create the first ever automatic chronograph. The movement named El Primero meaning ‘the first’ in Esperanto.

Over 40 years later and the El Primero is still known in the luxury watch industry as the most precise series made chronograph. This can be supported by the number of distinctions which have honoured the movement over its life span. What it is even more amazing is that it takes an average of nine months to make a Zenith El Primero watch.

2,500 operations, 300 expert pairs of hands and 18 different materials later create such a stunning piece of luxury. We welcome a limited edition, the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open. This particular piece features the automatic chronograph function and has a power reserve of 50 hours.

A great attention to detail is made with a tachymeter scale; this style dates back to the chronographs used in the first automobile races. A great amount of attention is drawn to the open work dial which clearly shows the El Primero movement.
