Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR MEN
I recently got my hands on one of my favourite brands, natural and organic skin care specialist Neal’s Yard Remedies’ new NYR MEN range. The range encompasses the full spectrum of male grooming products, offering a choice of products to suit all requirements – be it shave care, anti-ageing or your ‘basic’ day-to-day maintenance. True to the famed NYR philosophy, each product in the range has been individually formulated with a combination of herbs and essential oils, selected specifically for their action on the skin. There is a pleasant signature fragrance that runs throughout the range – a blend of pure essential oils including bergamot, basil and coriander, to give a fresh scent. One of my favourite features (of many) of the Neal’s Yard Remedies products are their fantastic deep purple bottles – this is continued into the men’s range, they look great in any bathroom.
After a few trial weeks I’ve decided to review what I will call Ape to Gentleman’s four ‘hero’ products of the NYR MEN range:
Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR MEN Close Shave Oil, £6.90 / 10ml – this travel friendly shaving oil is 100% organic and after shaving leaves skin nourished, smooth and soft. Evening Primrose and Jojoba oils work to support the growth of collagen and elastin, providing moisturising, conditioning and anti-oxidant actions on the skin. Simply splash the skin with hot water and massage a couple of drops of this oil over stubble. Sluice the razor often for a close and even shave. Basil oil helps to improve the overall tone and appearance of the skin, whilst reviving and strengthening via its affects on the nervous system.
Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR MEN Calming Aftershave Balm, £14.30 / 100ml – to be used in conjunction with the NYR MEN Close Shave Oil, this post-shave soother contains the antiseptic effects of Calendula and English Lavender with pleasantly refreshing Witch Hazel and nourishing Olive which leaves skin feeling smooth, fresh and relaxed. The blend includes Hyaluronic Acid to seal moisture into the skin and Aloe Vera to heal and soothe – eliminating raw or irritated skin.
Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR MEN Rejuvenating Moisturiser, £21.50 / 50g – this 88% organic daily moisturising cream contains Sweet Almond Oil; its rich concentration of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids helps to balance and retain moisture in the skin and Clevers, a herb with excellent cleansing and toning properties, helps to regenerate and protect the skin from premature ageing. The intense anti-oxidant properties in Green Coffee Seed Oil, and Shea Nut Butter’s deeply moisturising attributes, help to leave skin with a smooth and deeply nourished finish.
Neal’s Yard Remedies NYR MEN Rejuvenating Eye Gel £22.90 / 10ml – for those Apes and Gents suffering from tired or strained eyes. The cooling properties in this refreshing formula come from Witch Hazel, known for its ability to rapidly cool inflamed skin conditions and will calm and refresh tired skin, it is known to boost circulation helping to reduce deeper dark circles. Aloe Vera and Rose extracts help to sooth the skin around the eye, whilst Eyebright extract and White Tea Leaf tighten membranes around the eyes and provide anti-oxidant properties to protect and replenish the skin, giving a stronger and smoother surface around the eye.

Thanks for the reviews. I’ve never heard of “Neal’s Yard Remedies” products until now. I checked out thier website, looks like a great product range & high quality too.
It’s more than I’m used to paying but I’m looking for a good change going into 2011. The facial wash & mosturiser are top of the list!
