Duelling with Wax Bullets
There is something about Duelling that is both admirable and yet apeish at the same time. The structure and regulations that are adhered to, despite their impending doom strikes me as Genteel. However the fact they both parties feel that a duel is the best way to settles matters is somewhat Neanderthalic to say the very least. The idea behind a Duel was not necessarily for it to end in death for either party, but to walk away knowing that you were... Read More
A Bathing Ape x Daiwa = A Fishing Ape
The nature of ‘fashion’ is such that it can take the most unlikely of collaborative partners and turn it into something covetable – even something as obscure as fishing. You would be forgiven for putting Fishing up there as one of the least sartorially appealing sports. A Bathing Ape team have taken on the task of reinventing Fishing experts Daiwa into a capsule range of functional fashion apparel and accessories. “Daiwa‘s first... Read More
Apeish: The New US Dollar
The Federal Reserve have announced that they will be changing the US Dollar as of the next fiscal year to these new innovative designs… No, they are not really changing the US Dollar design and especially not to this design, that would be ludicrously out of character (but very cool), however it does raise an interesting point; What will the currency of the future look like…? Dowling Duncan, the company behind this innovative design, posits that... Read More
Apeish: The ‘complexities’ of English…
A bit of fun and food for thought this Christmas Eve with this great summary of the English language flaws by Ed Rondthaler, using a technique called Photo-Lettering. Absolutely brilliant; it’s hard to say he was wise beyond his year’s as he was 102 when he filmed this video. Thanks to modern technology, his wisdom will live on. As Watch and enjoy. It’s a strange world of language in which skating on thin ice can get you into hot water... Read More
Apeish: Soldier’s face ripped off by Lion
Britain’s manliest man Sacha Harding is under investigation by West County cops after a marketing stunt that saw a soldier’s face ripped off by a lion. The pair had been taking part in a shaving challenge at Dartmoor Zoo. The soldier fell against the bars of the lion’s cage during the ‘shave off’. It’s thought that the big cat sprayed him in the eyes with urine, which caused him to fall forward, allowing the lion to attack his head... Read More
Back to The Future II: The Hoverboard becomes reality…
The eighties were a purple patch for cult movies and none more so the Back to the Future trilogy. Back to the Future II made Marty McFly a teen icon, there was no item coveted more than the Hoverboard. Talented French artist Nils Guadagnin has managed to create a replica of the Hoverboard from Back to the Future II. According to Nils, here’s how he did it: “The Hoverboard is a project born in 2008 for an exhibition named “Back To the future”.... Read More
Life in the 21st Century – Logorama
The Logorama uses an animated story to illustrate how modern society is inundated with a plethora logos we all recognise subconsciously. It’s almost got to the stage that people ‘can’t see the product for the brand’. The Logorama Movie was directed by the French animators H5 (masterminds behind videos for Massive Attack, Goldfrapp and Röyksopp) Hervé de Crécy, François Alaux and Ludovic Houplain. The short movie was first unveiled at... Read More
The iWatch.
The iWatch. Before everyone gets too carried away, no – it’s not Apple’s latest release (yet) but a clever concept design from Italian designer ADR Studio. To be fair to ADR studio, the concept is one that you could readily envisage Apple producing as the next stage of their evolution. Imagine the more functional iPhone/iPad applications available from the convenience of your wrist; weather, Stocks, GPS Navigation, keyless car entry. Not... Read More
Street Golf: Le 19eme trou
Golf has always been considered a game for gentleman, but it seems that the modern gent has added a different ‘slant’ to the sport. This new renegade version of golf has taken a while to really catch fire, but it seems it has found its home in Paris with “Le 19eme trou” (the 19th Hole) Street Golf (Urban Golf) surfaced in Germany in the 90s and within five years it had crossed the Channel to the UK. It wasn’t until the early 2000s, that... Read More
