This Friday Five kicks off with a veritable rarity; the introduction of a new author – George Dunhill. In his words, George Dunhill is “An online lifestyle magazine that features products, how-to guides, stories, advice and tips for young men”. In our words, George Dunhill is a “Style filter; condensing key lifestyle products and trends into one site”. As an example of the gems he has unearthed, take a look at the Linley Triple Bar set. A handy companion for any modern gent (or alcoholic) allowing you to elegantly carry, not one, or two, but three different liquors. Good find George, welcome on board.
One Fragrance, One Tree
It’s not often that brands use their extensive media powers for good, but it seems that times have changed in the pursuit of preserving Terra Firma. The Ape to Gent office were pleased to hear of Hugo Fragrances initiative to help restore parity to the Amazon; for every Hugo Element or Hugo Man fragrance bought, they will plant a tree in the Amazon. Magnificent.
A simple concept, very well executed visually = Colgate’s advert for the 360 Sonic Power. The campaign was designed by Y&R Dubai with photographs from James Day and augmented by Core Digital. It was designed to launch Colgate’s 360 Sonic Power based on the mildly comedic strap line “333 strokes a second”.
Rarely a week passes without a new fragrance launch, but this one we all felt was definitely worth a mention. Artisan Black is a new, limited edition scent from John Varvatos. While we do acknowledge that yes, it does appear imposingly impressive, it’s all about what is actually in the bottle and early reports suggest that this new version is longer lasting, woodier, and muskier than its predecessor. Luckily you don’t have to wait too long to be able to smell it for yourself, the limited Edition Artiasn Black is due to be released on the April 1st 2010.
Sir Chris Hoy
Finally in this weeks Friday Five, Ape to Gentleman pay homage to an impeccably groomed modern gentleman. Sir Chris Hoy, recently notched up a staggering 10th world title at the Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark. Sir Hoy we salute you, and look forward to seeing you on home territory in 2012.
