Okay, so my title’s a bit ambitious but I wanted to report on my findings after a recent trip to the West Coast of the United States – in particular, Los Angeles, San Diego and the truly Fabulous Las Vegas. I made a point of checking every single male grooming ‘section’ in department stores and various Sephora shops that I could find. The results were interesting and to be honest pretty much uniform across the shops I visited.
In order of priority shelving i.e. which brands were most visible, it ranked in this order:
Another marker which I enjoyed researching was the quantity of each tester that appeared to be used. This obviously depends on how frequently the stores change each tester but some brands were obviously more ‘tried & tested’ than others, the order was as follows:
No surprises, the brilliant Anthony Logistics Deep Pore Cleansing Clay was empty! On speaking to various members of staff, they advised that all four of the above mentioned were popular but they were particularly fond of the Anthony Logistics range.
Nothing majorly ground-breaking here but a reasonable insight into some trending men’s skin care products over there in the USA. Anthony Logistics was obviously popular and rightly so. I must just add that I tried the Philosophy Hope In A Jar for Dry/ Sensitive Skin moisturiser and it’s rather good. Also, if you do visit Las Vegas I recommend the following:
Eat: Daniel Boulud Brasserie at the Wynn.
See: Grand Canyon by helicopter and ‘O’ by Cirque du Soleil.
Shop: Caesers Palace ‘The Forum Shops’.
Get: A wet shave at one of the various The Art of Shaving stores.
