In honour of Earth Day 2011 Kiehl’s partnered with Michael C. Hall and Chloë Sevigny to release a Limited Edition Label Art series of our Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, from which 100% of net proceeds will benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance, a charity long supported by Kiehl’s for the past 30 years.

Unique Ingredient: Amazonian White Clay

What is it?

This white clay is a rare kind of clay found in the Amazon. The natural movement of the Amazon River transforms the minerals in the rocks of the river into clay mineral particles. The clay particles are naturally transported by the river to an island at the base of the river where they are deposited. This clay is rich in mineral salts, iron, aluminium, potassium, calcium, boron and sulphur.

History

Traditionally, Brazilian Indians used white clay to protect themselves against skin problems, insect bites and snake poison. They also have used it for centuries as a stress relieving, detoxifying therapy.

Kiehl’s Connection?

Kiehls Pore Cleansing Masque helps purify and detoxify skin while minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. The formulation’s Amazonian white clay gently draws out oil, dirt and toxins that can clog pores.
