Since Nike’s purchase of Umbro, the British based company has started to up its game in a serious way. No surprise when you consider Nike’s firepower in this field. The latest creation is the The 27A Dale Street footwear collection, named after Umbro’s design studio in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, featuring 6 new styles, the highlight being the Spinningfield Millerain collaboration. The British Millerain Company has been providing wax coated natural fabrics for over 130 years. The company is renowned for producing high quality cottons made in the UK.

The Umbro collaboration comprises of two styles, the Spinningfield Millerain Mid and the Spinningfield Millerain Check Mid. Both styles feature a heavy-duty waterproof Millerain canvas upper with a premium pigskin collar lining and sock liner. The Spring/Summer 12 silhouette takes inspiration from classic British design and Umbro’s terrace football roots. The Spinningfields are completed with leather lacing and something we really liked Umbro’s logo-diamond eyelet – good attention to detail.

The Spinningfield silhouette also features in the rest of the 27A Dale Street Footwear range, where a non-Millerain option is available in an understated black and brown colourway with hints of red and blue.

Umbro’s 27A Dale Street footwear collection will be available from umbro.com, Office, Offspring (including Selfridges) and other stockists.
