Nokia 808 PureView

Growing up, a Nokia was always the mobile phone to have. Famed for their intuitive operating systems and cutting edge designs the Finnish company has always been at the forefront of the cellular world. With the emergence of other notable competitors namely Samsung and dare I say it the Apple iPhone, Nokia have had to up their game. Competition however, is healthy in any marketplace, it encourages innovation and Nokia have landed an almighty uppercut on the rest of the phone manufacturers with the release of their Nokia 808 PureView and its astonishing 41 megapixel camera.

The Nokia 808 PureView is the first smartphone to feature Nokia PureView imaging technologies, bringing together high resolution sensors, exclusive Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia developed algorithms, all of which will support new high-end imaging for the 808 PureView and future Nokia devices.

The reassuringly solid and well built 808 PureView’s OS is very good, all the SMS, email, social media and phone features are present and accounted for. The phone came supplied with a host of useful apps along with access to the Nokia app store. Ape to Gentleman is not a tech blog but the reason the 808 PureView caught our attention was the headline; a 41 megapixel sensor with high-performance Carl Zeiss optics and a new pixel oversampling technology. This basically means that at the highest-resolution setting you can capture an image and then zoom, reframe, crop and resize afterwards to expose incredible levels of details. We particularly enjoyed the dSLR style focusing, ensuring your subject is pin sharp.

It’s not only about taking high resolution pictures though. At the standard resolution of 5 megapixels, the Nokia 808 PureView uses the new new oversampling technology to capture and condense up to seven pixels of information in the sensor into one perfect pixel in the picture – resulting in very sharp images.

As you can see the pictures above are seriously sharp from the Nokia 808 PureView. They are all unedited. Note the clarity and colour balance.

If you want an extremely capable phone combined with an incredible camera then the Nokia 808 PureView is for you.
