Pai Skincare

I recently became aware of natural skin care specialists and British brand Pai Skincare, founded in 2007 by Sarah Brown, who had long suffered with sensitive skin. Her failed search for products which didn’t react to her sensitive skin resulted in Pai’s birth. The story is similar to other brands we see, “natural ingredients”, “proven benefits” etcetera. I must have read a hundred press releases with similar ‘benefits’ – naturally I was skeptical.

I tried two products; the Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream and the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. As well as having dry to sensitive skin if I wasn’t so well versed in men’s grooming I would suffer from shaving irritation and dryness too so these two products were of interest.

I used the Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream on my face as a moisturiser and the Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil as a pre-shave oil. Pai Skincare has neutral packaging so the crossover from their main target market of women to the men’s grooming market is not really a concern for me, especially if their products work.

Over 2 million people in the UK are sensitised to one or more ingredients in their cosmetics.

Pai state that over 2 million people in the UK are sensitised to one or more ingredients in their cosmetics, that’s a lot. I suspect the figure is much higher for men who suffer with shaving irritation too.

Pai Skincare very much reminds me of REN Skincare, with their similar ethos’s and similar looking products but after a week or so of use, I found Pai Skincare to be more effective. The Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream was a good texture, not too thick but not a ‘thin’ lotion. It absorbed and hydrated well, with zero irritation. It has floral scent which I thought may irritate, it didn’t.

The Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil smelled very ‘natural’ but this didn’t put me off. The product was a good pre-shave oil (revitalising skin conditioner is its primary use), providing decent coverage for little quantity of the oil. It really came into its own as a post-shave hydrator. The decent coverage and quick absorption with zero irritation, soothed and hydrated my beard area.

All in all, I am now a Pai Skincare fan – for those with sensitive skin and a penchant for all things natural you won’t be disappointed. Kudos must go to Pai for their cool branding too. For me it’s a better all round package and importantly more effective than REN Skincare.
