Bonobos

Bonobos is a brand we are really enjoying right now; similar to Everlane, Warby Parker and Uniqlo – the quest for quality and affordability lands us at Bonobos’ front door. A men’s clothing brand focused on delivering great fitting, quality basics which was launched in 2007 on the Internet with its signature line of better-fitting men’s trousers, it has grown to become the largest men’s clothing brand ever built on the web in the United States.

The reason for the brands success is ‘simple’; it gets style and price right, leading to them being named “One of America’s Hottest Brands” by Advertising Age and  achieving the “Best Men’s Pants” award by New York Magazine.

Their expansion online and offline continues, and we particularly like their AW14 Men’s Suit Collection with autumn just around the corner the new collection of wool suits, tweed blazers and tuxedos are ideal for this cool-crisp weather. Take a look at the link below for more information, and we also have some suit styling and fit tips from Bonobos VP of Design, Dwight Fenton.

“Fit is the most important detail for a suit. Marry that with classic color options and quality fabric, and you have a great looking, versatile suit for every occasion,” says Dwight Fenton, Bonobos VP of Design.

Fenton’s Suit Fit Tips

  • Fit starts with the shoulders: The jacket should grab your shoulders snuggly but not be overly tight. If the shoulders fit, pretty much anything else can be adjusted.
  • Length matters: To determine the appropriate length, you should be able to cup the bottom of the suit with your arms by your side.
  • Show some shirt: A flexible but general rule of thumb is to have a quarter-inch of your shirt cuff showing. If you’re wearing a heavier cuff, like a French cuff, you may want to show a little more.
