Eyebrow Maintenance

With the demand from men for eyebrow maintenance continuing to grow, we wanted to run a few choice options by you. We are talking about subtle grooming and shaping, nothing too drastic. An unruly pair of eyebrows can spoil otherwise flawlessly grooming skin, and styled attire. These include monobrows, bushy eyebrows and shapelessness.

To assist we enlisted the help of eyebrow maintenance specialists nkd to run through the options. So whether you want a basic tidy up, or some more comprehensive reshaping – and possibly even recolouring – of your brows, there are several options to choose from.

Eyebrow waxing is still the most popular option for brow reshapes and tidy-ups. This involves having wax applied underneath your brows and between them, which will then be pulled off, taking your unwanted eyebrow hair with it! The wax should feel hot but not uncomfortably so. Likewise, you will of course feel the hair being pulled out from its root which may not be the most pleasant feeling, but it shouldn’t be painful as such and at least it will be quick! Your therapist will probably then pluck/tweeze some individual stray hairs that the wax didn’t pick up, and from above the eyebrow.

Eyebrow threading is similar to waxing in as much as it also removes the hair from the root. But with threading, a piece of cotton thread is used to pull the hairs out instead of wax. Discomfort levels tend to vary from person to person. Some clients find it relaxing, others report a tickling type sensation while some clients do find it uncomfortable and switch to eyebrow waxing thereafter.

Meanwhile, HD Brows can be considered the “Rolls Royce” of eyebrow reshaping treatments! This seven-step procedure includes some face measuring and mapping, waxing, threading, plucking, tinting, and if the client wishes, a small amount of brow make-up to fill in any gaps. While standard eyebrow waxes and threads usually take around 10 minutes to carry out, an HD Brow treatment could take up to 45 minutes.

The final option is to pluck individual hairs using a pair of high quality tweezers. Brush against the wiry eyebrow hair with a fine comb, then pluck any long and unruly hair out. You may also wish to consider home waxing kits, such as those provided by Parissa but seeing as you’re eyebrow style is so apparent (being on your face) it’s probably better to leave it to an expert in a salon.
