Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel
Early this month we had the opportunity to stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street while we attended London Collections: Men. Perfectly located for us to attend the shows and presentations, the hotel was our 2nd home for several days. We were spoiled by being walking distance to the main venues and activities while also having the opportunity to work and relax in the hotel’s luxurious rooms.
Set amidst the historic streets of Bloomsbury, once the favourite hang-out of literary luminaries Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes and E.M. Forster, the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Bloomsbury Street offers its own classic tale of literature, luxury and contemporary style. The area also boasts a number of garden squares, while The British Museum is within eyeshot of the hotel. Nestled between Holborn and the top end of Covent Garden, it’s also well placed for those keen of venturing into Soho, The West End and The Seven Dials.
Wonderfully located on Bloomsbury Street, the hotel allows for a relaxed approach in discovering London, safe in the knowledge that you’re not too far from anything. Theatre goers will be treated to what’s on offer in Covent Garden and Leicester Square, with other healthy distractions in China Town and Soho all within close proximity to each other.
The hotel boasts a variety of rooms perfect for any occasion – with the original wrought-iron staircase winding its way through the building’s centre. Bedrooms are elegant and have a blend of lavish furnishings, marble bathrooms and supplemented with a variety of contemporary mod-cons such as your usual suspects of flat screen televisions, iPod/iPhone docking stations and complimentary Wi-Fi.
For those who demand a little extra and appreciate the finer things, the hotel has an Exclusive Seventh Floor that has mixture of spacious business class king rooms and studio suites, all set against the stunning backdrop of London’s skyline. The floor offers a discreet luxury hideaway, only accessible to guests with a special key card. For those in need of complete privacy, have the option to book the entire floor for their own exclusive use if they so wish.
We treated ourselves on a couple of occasions to food at Steak & Lobster, situated within the hotel, which had a comfortable atmosphere and offered us a nice rest bite from a packed schedule. The restaurant offers a simple and yet tasty menu with a no-nonsense choice of a 10oz rib eye steak or whole lobster, both served with French fries and a side salad. Complimented by a nice glass of wine or craft beer you’ll be content and fully recharged.
We were very happy with our stay and can say that we’ve already booked ourselves in for next seasons LC:M. We’re tempted to make the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury our go-to hotel for whenever we visit London.
