Marks & Spencer x Baartmans & Siegel

The London-based design duo, Wouter and Amber (Baartmans & Siegel), who were both 2010 graduates of the London College of Fashion are collaborating with Marks & Spencer Menswear. It’s a bold, and smart move for the long standing icon of the British high street- bringing the brand firmly into the 21st century.

The M&S x Baartmans & Siegel collection includes 12 winter layering staples created by Wouter Baartmans & Amber Siegel alongside the in house M&S design team. The pieces remain true to the design aesthetic of Baartmans & Siegel, and should also be relevant to the M&S customers, and beyond.

The collaboration, we are told, is inspired by futuristic architecture, with a focus on texture, structure and stretch innovations. Key pieces include block stripe textured knitwear, a bouclé coat and high shine leather trainers, made with high quality Italian fabrics. The collaboration conjured bespoke fabrics and trims including a navy and black Prince of Wales check, marl tape trims, zip pulls and matte silver linings. Designs were based on M&S best-sellers such as the classic black blazer and trousers, in a muted colour palette of black, charcoal and navy.

Wouter Baartmans and Amber Siegel are known for their use of texture and sharp tailoring with a focus on fabrics that intrigue, and that are crafted into distinctive shapes- something which they have certainly transposed into this latest collaboration with M&S. We aren’t sure about quantities available but this collection is certainly worth investing in, especially at such a reasonable price point.

The 12 piece collection is available in selected stores and online at marksandspencer.com from 27th October. Prices range from £39.50 for a white shirt to £199 for a Bouclé coat.
