Leica M10 Camera

Introducing the new Leica M10 Camera

More newness from Leica as it announces the Leica M10 Camera. A rangefinder with a top plate depth of 33.75mm- makes it the slimmest digital M of all time. Leica’s rangefinder technology has become some what of a legendary focusing system. And the new Leica M10 camera has a field of view enlarged by 30 per cent and a magnification increased to 0.73. There is a 24 MP, full-frame CMOS sensor developed specifically for this camera with a seriously impressive dynamic range. Excellent contrast rendition, exceptional sharpness and fine detail resolution.

What is a Rangefinder?

For those of you who don’t know, a rangefinder is a camera that focuses using a dual-image where you turn a ring, and when two superimposed images line up, you’re in focus. You never look through the lens. You focus and compose through a window on the top right of the camera while the camera ‘looks’ out of a window to the left. The camera triangulates as you turn the focus ring, bringing two images into correlation and focus. In general a rangefinder will provide superior image quality, especially with wide-angles and is significantly smaller and lighter. They are ideal for nature, landscapes and stills. An SLR should still be your weapon of choice, especially for fast-moving subjects like children, sports and action.

Improvements over the M

The ISO sensitivity range has been expanded, allowing exposures at values between ISO 100 and 50,000. Ensuring considerably improved noise characteristics at higher ISO settings. Also included is the latest-generation Maestro II image processor. Which combined with the new 24 MP sensor ensures all exposures are captured with superb quality. Bringing the Leica M10 firmly into the digital age is integrated WLAN connectivity. This enables the fast, wireless transfer of pictures to Apple mobile devices. Where they can be edited, posted and shared on social networks, for example.
