We wrote a news piece on Klättermusen Outerwear back in December; a brand run by a team of outdoor enthusiasts based out of Åre, a small mountain town in northern Sweden. Briefly; their focus is on durable and functional products, sustainable thinking and creating unique design solutions. And owing to their location- testing said outwear to its limits is relatively easy. Well, we are delighted to say that we now have a Atle 2.0 Jacket in our possession, and have put it to the test for review.

Wearing the Atle 2.0 for the first time, immediately apparent are its superb insulating qualities and remarkably light weight. Made with white goose down the Atle 2.0 jacket can be easily squeezed in to a backpack and shines as an outer garment, or when used under a shell jacket when the rain is pouring.

The Details

The outer shell fabric in black (available in a variety of colours) was created from renewable castor beans and engineered using internal sidewalls, minimising seams to ensure cold is kept out and warmth is retained. The seams are non-penetrating for extra warmth and it has two fleece-lined front pockets and is filled with fully traceable, RDS certified, 800+ fill power down. The sleeves extend all the way over your hand to avoid any gaps between your gloves and jacket. Both the outer and lining fabrics are created with a durable and light fabric, and the shoulders are reinforced with 100% stretch polyamide.

Fit

I opted for a Large to fit my 42” chest- which fits really well on my 6ft 3” frame. Plenty of length in the sleeves and in the body. It’s not the slimmest jacket, but I don’t mind that for practical use- I think I’d fit in a Medium too for if I wanted a slimmer more form-fitting look. It depends what your use for the jacket is- technical use or just for keeping warm around the city.

Style

As you can see from the pictures- it’s certainly a technical jacket versus a more fashion-centric down coat but I’ve been wearing it smart-casual with jeans, boots or sneakers and a t-shirt and it looks as good in urban settings as it does in the countryside. In fact, I like that it’s a little unique and not as ‘common’ as other brands in down-outerwear.

Conclusion

It was great to hear and report on the Klättermusen story and brand ethic back in December- and trying the Atle 2.0 Jacket confirms that the quality, style and functionality lives up to and exceeds, our expectation. We tip our hat to Klättermusen and recommend you take a look at what else they have to offer.
