Novak Djokovic x Lacoste

Tennis player Novak Djokovic has switched his tennis-wear from Uniqlo to Lacoste- the French brand founded by René Lacoste in 1933 when he created the Lacoste L.12.12 polo shirt. The cotton petit piqué fabric of the L.12.12 allowed the 1930s tennis players greater freedom of movement, and has since become a symbol of French elegance and timeless sports-style.

The new collection designed for Djokovic is to be worn on court during the Grand Slam tournaments as well as for the other tournaments of the season- debuting at the French Open this May. The line marries performance, functionality and style with ergonomic stitching, Djokovic’s signature printed on the left sleeve and varying touches of blue, white and red alongside white or black shorts.

The print campaign shot by photographer Jacob Sutton is really strong and combines 1930s black and white with the present-day collections’ colours. A composition that is a testament to the brand’s timelessness. We particularly like the white polo, presumably to be worn at Wimbledon- ideal summer-wear. Game, set and match Lacoste.
