That time of year has now arrived for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars 2010. This year’s event is set to take place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on March 7th in Los Angeles; expect lots of hype, glamour, extravagance and well groomed actors. While their women counterparts use this as an opportunity to showcase their extent of their wardrobe, the men are less inclined to do so and so the focus is on the men themselves, their hair and their skin.
It seems that being under the watchful eyes of make-up artists on set for most of their lives, has rubbed off on the actors’ grooming habits. Let’s take Daniel Day-Lewis as an example; he won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2008 for his role in ‘There Will be Blood’, a truly captivating performance, one of the most convincing seen on screen. When he stepped up to receive his Oscar, say what you will about his hair and earrings, he looked a picture of health at 50; well shaven, and his skin is nigh on impeccable.
Similarly, in 2009 Sean Penn stepped up to receive his Best Actor Oscar for his role in ‘Milk’ looking equally fresh faced at 48. This year no doubt expect some equally fresh faces with both George Clooney and Colin Firth nominated in the ‘Best Actor’ category. Daniel just missed out on the chance for another Oscar this year for his role in ‘Nine’. What do the Oscars 2010 hold instore? I for one expect another well groomed perfomance.
