Polaar Hydraboost Gel
The Friday Five returns to Ape to Gentleman with a much needed boost – a HydraBoost in fact, to get you Gents perked up for the weekend. From French purveyors of men’s grooming Polaar, comes this stimulating gel containing Siberian Ginseng; a key active ingredient noted for its energising properties. This natural moisturiser provides a veritable boost with micronutrients that stimulate skin while reinforcing its natural defences. Some might call it
“Red Bull for your skin.”
Programs such as Mad Men and the Broadwalk Empire have spearheaded the revival of all things heritage, from fashion to footwear, badger hair brush to straight razor and of course, motoring. The problem with classic motors is that with the CO2 emission laws tightening by the week and rising fuel prices, they are just no longer viable. Enter Imperia. The design of of the ambitious automobiles is based on the following 3 core concepts:
- Environmental concern, through motorisation based on Plug-in hybrid engine technology supplemented by path-breaking autonomy in electric mode.
- The pleasure of sport driving, obtained through high-level performance.
- Attention to design, conveyed through its neo-retro lines inspired from Imperia history that will seduce the most demanding amateur.
The result is the Imperia GP; a car that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds in purely electric mode, and in 4.0 seconds in hybrid mode. The kilometre time trial clocks in at 22.5 seconds. This puts the Imperia on par with the Porsche 911 Carrera S. Oh, and it looks pretty good too.

Drew Capener x Scrabble
The modern gentleman requires all things in his abode to reflect his image, be it his art, his car, his furniture or even the flooring underfoot. Now thanks to designer Drew Capener (Andrew Clifford Capener) you can add your board games to that list. This concept strives to revive interest in a household classic, Scrabble, by making it visually more appealing, more tactile and more personable.
The set would come in the font of your choice or with an assorted font pack. The scrabble board and interior box are made out of solid walnut, and the exterior box is made from birch. Each of the 6 board pieces is magnetized to fit together perfectly and each piece slides nicely into its respective slot in the box and is secured by interior magnets as well.
We think he won.
Daft Coke: Coke Cola x Daft Punk
There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a Coke (from a glass bottle) with ice and lemon on a summer’s day. Thankfully while we wait for the Summer to arrive, Coca Cola and Daft Punk have collaborated on a Limited Edition “Daft Coke” bottle to give us something to look at until the weather matches our beverage aspirations. The bottles come in Gold and Silver to match the colours of the iconic Daft Punk helmets. The bad news; you’ll have to wait until the end of March (and go to France) to get them…
