As Ape to Gentleman’s continued coverage of the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 which took place yesterday, 23rd February at 02 Academy Brixton continues, we bring to you a brand new decoration; the ‘Most Stylish’ award. I hear you ask, “were the awards pure rock star carnage?” Well apparently it was more about style and panache at the NME Awards 2011, thanks to The Killer’s frontman Brandon Flowers who scooped the illustrious new ‘Most Stylish’ award supported by gents’ hair styling product favourites; Shockwaves.
Never lacking passion or guts in his frontman approach, Flowers’ style on the night gave an Ian Curtis-inspired nod with a set of braces and hair side-sweep (TBC). Having fought off stiff competition from infamous Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher, Mighty Boosh funny man Noel Fielding and not forgetting the girls, racy redhead Hayley Williams and Lady Gaga, Brandon overtook his style rivals in the race to become NME’s Most Stylish.
This is the first time ever that NME has presented a Most Stylish award supported by Shockwaves, proving that the best of style and music complement each other perfectly, inspiring the best bands and frontmen.
Michael Douglas, Shockwaves Style Director comments:
There’s always a buzz around the NME Awards, particularly to see what styles are influencing bands and solo artists. This year, the red carpet highlights included Foo Fighters rocking the sweep, which looks as though it’s here to stay as a cult classic. Also, Mark Ronson’s teddy boy quiff made a statement James Dean or even Elvis would be proud of.
We think Shockwaves is a great brand connection between music and style, with their range of easy to use products and knowledge based videos giving you confidence to re-create your favourite styles at home. We must add that Brandon Flowers is not associated with and does not endorse Shockwaves (or any P&G Beauty and Grooming products) but doesn’t happen to be one stylish gent.
