Smythson AW17 Collection

Stationer and luggage brand Smythson have released its Autumn/ Winter 2017 Collection- inspired by 18th century Britain’s fascination with the chinoiserie movement. A blend of eccentricity and extravagance, this period of art and interiors was defned by rich colours and a diversity of materials with an acute attention to detail. This ethos is captured throughout the Autumn Winter collections with sumptuous leathers, buttery soft lambskin, supple deerskin and smooth calfskin.

There is a strong colour palette of imperial yellow, oyster and black, with the new this season, Grosvenor collection playing on the idea of lacquerware with its intricate detailing and contrasting colours. Another new addition is the bucket backpack joining Smythson’s signature Berkley collection alongside an array of leather accessories. The Berkeley backpack joins another new shape this season, the Burlington Saddle bag. Handcrafted from textured deerskin, it combines ease with elegance featuring rounded corners and cleverly concealed pockets.

Building on the idea of pearlescent fnishes, this season also introduces a limited edition capsule collection of silver Mara leather accessories to complement the statement silver tote in the newly launched Kingly Collection. This Autumn/ Winter colour palette is complimented throughout by storm blue, hues of which have been added to the Compton, Piccadilly, Mara, Connaught and Burlington collections. With a myriad of new silhouettes and styles, the Smythson AW17 Collection is certainly one to take a look at.
