I wanted to review this gel for two reasons. Firstly, I’m a gel user. As in, I prefer it to wax, putty, clay etc. Finally, I feel that gels have always been associated with being flaky, lacking hold and sticky… which leads me on to my second point… this gel is good, very good!
I bought Bumble and bumble’s Seaweed Shampoo some time ago, truthfully, because I liked the sound of the name ‘Seaweed Shampoo’, the contents looked interesting visually and I must admit, it was recommended. As previously mentioned, I’m a ‘gel fan’ and after my previous positive experience with Bb’s shampoo, when I came across the Bb.Gel I had to give it a try.
The tube the gel’s packaged in lives up to Bb’s normal funky packaging and colour schemes(see picture above) with an array of blues, greens and purples. The cap/ release mechanism is interesting too, a twist of the cap followed by a squeeze releases the gel. My only gripe here, was after I’d squeezed the gel into my hand then twisted the cap closed a pea size amount of gel is forced out as the cap shuts, meaning it’s a messy affair if you place the tube directly back on you bathroom shelf. The solution – wipe(and use remaining gel) the cap before it hits your shelf. Minor I know but I’m particular.
The gel itself, well, it’s special – I might go as far to say that it’s the best gel I’ve ever used. I’ve not used them all by any means so if anyone would care to suggest their favourite then please leave your comments below. Anyway, back to Bb’s Gel. Ideally used in damp hair, not wet or dry, damp. The gel is a perfect consistency, not too runny or too thick. A small amount will go a long way(my hair is more short than medium in length). The hold is great, it lasts pretty much all day unless you rub your hands through your hair constantly. The look is slightly damp, not wet or dry/ matte but just right. My hair looks clean, shiny, healthy and importantly there are no flakes or stickiness either. I’m really pleased with the results and will definitely buy it again, unless someone can better it?
