If you haven’t discovered TommyGuns Haircare yet, then you’re missing out! My favourite is the TommyGuns Blueberry & Ginseng Shampoo and the Blueberry, Ginseng & Honey Conditioner. Another delicious offering is their fantastic smelling Fig, Plum and Marshmallow Conditioner – just don’t eat it. The styling range is salon inspired (which means it works!) and all the products are nature inspired. We are struggling to understand why the unisex TommyGuns range of Shampoos and Conditioners priced at £4.99 and the Treatments and Styling range priced at £5.99 aren’t hugely popular – the products themselves, incidentally, work very, very well! As always it’s a case of marketing budget I guess, so pleasingly, hearing TommyGuns New York salon was used for the filming of none other than Wall Street 2 was great. It proves that marketing budget isn’t everything and that people come calling for quality.

The sequel to the Oliver Stone 80s classic Wall Street (if you haven’t seen it, watch it!), the poignant tale of 80s greed, is named Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, which sees Michael Douglas revive his role as high flyer Gordon Gekko.

What does TommyGuns have to do with Gordon Gekko you may ask? Well, scenes in the film involving Michael Douglas and Donald Trump were filmed at TommyGuns salon on Ludlow Street, Lower East Side New York City.

The shoot on the 25th November 2009 saw Ludlow Street transformed into the streets of London and Michael Douglas taking up residence in the classic TommyGuns barber’s chair for a cut and shave, accompanied by Donald Trump, who has a cameo role in the film.

Russell Manley owner of the NYC salon suggests TommyGuns Smooth and Finish Crème as the product of choice to tame Michael Douglas style locks. Those more ‘follically challenged’ may prefer to use the TommyGuns Volumising Mousse to add body and movement to the hair, sweeping the hair back into a softer version of Gekko’s 80’s slicked-backed style.

TommyGuns NYC has replicated the vintage design of the original Soho salon in London which opened in 1994. The design, drawing on the feel of a traditional barber shop, adds to the authenticity of the haircutting experience. Classic barber chairs in leather upholstery, nickel, mirror & glass cabinets, marble floors and counter tops combined with retro lighting, set the atmosphere. The upscale service provided is synonymous with the TommyGuns philosophy of laid-back professionalism to achieve effortless style.
