Fragrance season is well and truly upon us and Ape to Gentleman have more news with Yves Saint Laurent announcing the third scent in their L’Homme series, L’Homme Libre. The first fragrance entitled L’Homme was introduced in 2006 which was followed in 2009 by the more seductive La Nuit de L’Homme. The face of the fragrance campaign will be “Black Swan” Actor/Choreographer (and Fiancée to Natalie Portman) Benjamin Millepied.

Freedom is contagious; we all have to break free” – Renaud de Lesquen, president of YSL Beauté at L’Oréal

L’Homme Libre has been made to side alongside rather than replace the two preceding YSL scents; L’Homme is a classic woody, fruity fougère, while La Nuit is a fresh oriental.

The ‘noses’ behind L’Homme Libre are Olivier Polge and Carlos Benaim who created a clean, modern interpretation of the woody aromatic L’Homme. The scent features star anis, an accord of basil and violet leaves, which provide the energy while the woody notes of patchouli and vetiver hold the fragrance together.

The fragrance is expected to retail at $43-$75 in the US and is to be released this Fall.
