Alice Made This Cufflinks – Coastlines Volume One Collection

Award winning British brand Alice Made This have launched their new Coastlines Volume One Collection of accessories.

The collection, which is made up of a refined selection of cufflinks and cuff bracelets, is inspired by geotechnical engineering, the process of attrition and coastline geology in Britain.

Featuring barrelled surfaces, the collection uses industrial techniques to mimic wave action and nature’s effect on raw materials through coastal erosion.

Barrelling is a surface operation which sees raw materials tumbled in a rotating barrel, creating friction as they collide with each other, as well as selected media and compounds.

In industry barrelling is used for rounding corners, deburring, grinding, descaling, de ashing, burnishing, polishing and radiusing parts.

The barrel shapes of the cuff links are inspired by the barrelling process itself, whereas the profiles of the cuff bracelets are soft or softly scalloped to mirror the sea beds as they slowly wear away under the force of Attrition.

Combining the power of nature with the precision of industry, Coastlines Volume One takes inspiration from British coastlines, and the waves that shape it, to create an honest collection of refined pieces.

The cufflinks and cuff bracelets are crafted from barrelled, machined and polished brass and copper, and precious metals plated in rose gold and silver finishes.
