New additions to Nike Free

Released over a decade ago the Nike Free shoe has been popular since its launch and for 2016 there are more additions and innovation. Each Nike Free features a progressive geometric auxetic (materials that have a negative Poisson’s ratio. When stretched, they become thicker perpendicular to the applied force) midsole which has been designed to enable your natural motion and to develop strength, whether running or training.

Naturally Nike have released a whole host of new designs but the auxetic midsole is the real interest story here. Nike researched new studies that revealed how the foot expands and contracts upon impact with and liftoff from the ground, with the auxetic midsole mimicking how the body and foot react to force including splaying. It absorbs shock while accounting for the dual-plane expansion in foot size- approximately one size in length and two sizes in width that occurs throughout an athlete’s foot strike.

Additionally, the multi-directional outsole flexibility closely mimics this changing shape, whether you are moving linearly in running or multi-directionally in training. The resulting flexibility puts the foot, rather than the shoe, in control.

Running

Every runner possesses a one-of-a-kind stride, defined by your respective gate and physique.

Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit

This running shoe enables your most dynamic movement. It pairs a fully adaptive, single-piece Nike Flyknit upper featuring 3D ribbing from the forefoot to heel with the new auxetic midsole.

Training

Men’s Free Train Force Flyknit

The way you train are as varied as the reasons why- run, jump, cut and lift, requires varying degrees of support and flexibility.

Men’s Free Train Force Flyknit

This low-profile training shoe features a 5/8-height Flyknit upper designed to promote a feeling of support. Flywire locks down the foot during lateral cuts while an integrated heel counter keeps you stable during hard cuts. Dual-density tooling pairs cushioning for repetitive high-impact moves with a firm outsole that delivers stiffer support during rigorous lifts.
