Harland Miller the celebrated international artist and author talks about his creative beginnings at school, in this exclusive short movie for the dunhill “Voice” campaign.

Harland Miller graduated with an MA from Chelsea College of Art and has since exhibited as an artist in New York, Berlin and New Orleans. Miller achieved critical literary acclaim with his 2000 novel Slow down Arthur, Stick to Thirty.

One of Miller’s defining works came in 2001, with a series of paintings based on the dust jackets of Penguin books which marry aspects of Pop Art, abstraction and figurative painting, along with his love of text. In 2002 Miller became writer in residence at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, programming a number of events, drawing on his experience in literature and art, notably devoting a season to Edgar Allen Poe – scheduled to coincide with the anniversary of Poe’s birthday.
