Bamford Watch Department x Zenith

On Monday, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. George Bamford- the founder and creative genius behind the Bamford Watch Department (BWD). The BWD brand is new to Ape but briefly- it customises watches, and historically, watches from Rolex. There’s more to George’s story though- and I hope to bring you a thorough interview, for he’s a particularly interesting gentleman and extremely passionate about producing high-quality and unique watches. The purpose of this post however- to introduce you to his Bamford Watch Department customised Zenith collection and customiser.

A Feather in the Cap

In a move that essentially legitimises what Bamford Watch Department do, they have, for the first time, been officially authorised by a high-end Swiss watch brand to customise watches and sell them through the BWD website as well as its retail network. Zenith have also endorsed a brand new customiser allowing clients to personalise a Zenith watch directly from bamfordwatchdepartment.com – where BWD acquire all watches, spare parts and other dedicated supplies from Zenith in order to fully customise its BWD x Zenith watches.

Becoming officially recognised and approved by a Swiss watchmaker is no mean feat, and not just any Swiss watchmaker- Zenith founded in 1865 boasts one of the strongest horological reputations on the planet. It’s really a testament to George’s hard work and creative vision, and the levels of quality they achieve at BWD, that Zenith have legitimised this partnership.

Availability

The new range of customised watches are available for purchase now at bamfordwatchdepartment.com and from all BWD stockists including Dover Street Market and Colette. Prices from £8,000- which when considering one of my favourite watches- the ‘regular’ Zenith El Primero starts at £5,500 isn’t bad, for your own unique piece of Swiss watchmaking history.
