Dr Andrea Zagato, owner of the design house and automotive styling specialists of the same name is responsible for some of the most handsome cars we’ve witnessed to date. The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato is one such four-wheeled masterpiece. And as of 15 June, 2018 – Zagato have collaborated with Leica Camera, to create something equally stunning. The Leica M10 ‘Edition Zagato’ camera and Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. lens.

The limited (to 250 pieces worldwide) edition was personally designed by Zagato himself, and offers extraordinary visuals and tactile highlights. Founded a century ago, Zagato has been the creator of the most striking coachbuilt bodies in the history of automobile construction. Its a quintessential Italian brand and globally renowned for its innovative use of aluminium. This expertise as been masterfully transferred by Zagato into the limited edition M10 and lens. With the top deck, the baseplate, the outer casing and the control elements of the camera all manufactured from aluminium.

The Details

This makes the Leica M10 ‘Edition Zagato’ camera 70g lighter than the regular M10. And instead of the usual leather trim, the bodyshell of the camera is finished with fine grooves. The M10 ‘Edition Zagato’ is also the first Leica camera to have its own special serial number engraved on an aluminium badge on the base of the camera that is revealed only when the baseplate is opened.

The accompany the camera is the aforementioned Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. lens. It features an integrated lens hood that can be pulled out and locked in place in a single motion. While the design of the focusing aid on the lens pays homage to a typical styling signature of Zagato automobile design, the double-bubble roofline. There is the unmistakeable ‘Zagato’ logotype on the lens ring too. In all other aspects, the technical specifications of the camera and lens in the Leica M10 ‘Edition Zagato’ set are identical to those of its regular production counterpart.

Customers will also receives a unique carrying strap in red full-grain leather embossed with the Zagato logotype, which attaches to rectangular strap lugs.
