Mc Alson x Ape to Gentleman Boxer Short
Photography by Ape to Gentleman
Earlier this year Ape to Gentleman were invited to Lake Como, Italy by Mc Alson, a gentlemen’s boxer short brand from Gent, Belgium- to create our own unique Ape to Gentleman boxer short.
Mc Alson is a family owned business, founded in 1997, when Pierre Deren decided there was a need for more comfortable mens underwear. His focus was best possible quality and fit, whilst maintaining corporate and social responsibility. On top of this- Pierre’s children work in the business and are actively involved with all aspects of every collection.
With modern and eccentric designs the Mc Alson brand is trendy and adventurous. And there’s something for every season with several designers working on collections that match the mood of the moment. Young or old, there are options for classic or avant garde tastes.
What makes Mc Alson really different? Well, the most important feature of each boxer short is the fine quality cotton support system which makes the Mc Alson boxer unique, and comfier than anything we’ve ever worn.
Our Collaboration
Flying out to Lake Como, myself and Eli Ankutse of JOSHUA’s Magazine were greeted by the Mc Alson family; Pierre, Caroline and Thibaud- three of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. All three were to lend their experience to help us design the Ape to Gentleman Mc Alson boxer short alongside French blogger Arnaud Chanteloup of Verygoodlord – an equally delightful man.
The Ape to Gentleman boxer short with invisible inside support are woven in pure cotton fibre with an elasticised waistband closed by two buttons. There is an open fly which is closed by one button, with side splits and a three piece back side cut for comfort. To the front is the Mc Alson signature tab and on these particularly shorts our design of course.
Mc Alson x Ape to Gentleman
We opted for, in light of the searing Italian heat and summer weather a cool blue and white horizontal-striped design with the Ape to Gentleman logo weaved into the stripes. Perhaps subconsciously inspired by the blue waters of Lake Como.
Verygoodlord
Equally handsome are the Verygoodlord designs- emblazoned with Arnaud’s logo and a unique red and navy coloured pattern.
