TUMI x New York for AW17
For Autumn/Winter 2017 legendary luggage brand TUMI travelled to New York for its photography campaign and to celebrate the city’s intersection of metropolitan sophistication and handsomeness. The premise- to capture the spirit of journeys with an urban edge and countryside charm converging into a contemporary style.
The AW17 collection boasts a strong colour palette and graphic prints which TUMI tell us they derived inspiration both from city highlights; like the celebrated contemporary artworks at the Museum of Modern Art, and upstate features such as the tranquil landscapes of the Catskills and the Hudson River Valley. Below, we run through the new additions to some of our favourite TUMI product lines including 19 Degree, the classic Alpha Bravo range, Arrivé and V3.
19 Degree
19 Degree is TUMI’s aluminum luggage collection which for AW17 they have introduced a new seasonal colour; Blue. Offered in International Carry-On (36860), Short Trip Packing Case (36864) and Extended Trip Packing Case (36869) sizes, this aluminum assortment features a reinforced framecase design- with two snap closures for carry-on bags and three snap closures for check-in bags- and die-cast corner caps for additional protection. The interior is well appointed including a lightweight lining with an embossed diamond pattern.
Alpha Bravo
The typical TUMI collection- Alpha Bravo is exceptionally durable and encompasses the design excellence, functional superiority and technical innovation that TUMI have built its reputation upon. In addition to existing color Hickory, the assortment will be offered in Blue Camo (top image), which looks fantastic. The Henderson Short Trip Packing Case (222464) and Kirtland International Carry-On (223460) feature three interior dividers in the front lid to compartmentalise packing, which can be laid down flat when not in use. Both cases also have a separate structured bottom section with tie-down straps. The exteriors feature multiple pockets for organization, four dual-recessed wheels, a telescoping handle and bumper guards for protection.
Alpha 2
Alpha 2 continues with the recent evolution of the iconic ballistic nylon collection in Navy/Black two-toned Front Lid Packing cases. The Front Lid International Carry-On (22560) and Short Trip Packing Case (22564) offer two points of access to the main compartment, giving you the ability to quickly retrieve items from the front lid without having to open the entire suitcase. The main compartment expands by two inches and features a removable suiter component with tie-down straps and multiple zipper pockets including a dedicated passport pocket.
Arrivé
Arrivé is TUMI’s super-luxe collection, made with not only fine aesthetics- TUMI have made sure they maintain their ‘standard’ engineering features. The Arrivé collection boasts a wealth of features; including high-polish chrome retractable handles, a multitude of protective pockets, and sleek magnetic zippers that stay flush against the bag. This travel collection is updated with front-lid access, which allows for quick and immediate access to travel necessities. New carry-on and check-in expandable styles include the Gatwick Front-Lid International Carry-On (255960), Aberdeen Continental Carry-On (255961), Macarthur Short Trip Packing Case (255964) and Stanley Extended Trip Packing Case (255969).
V3
V3 is TUMI’s lightest luggage collection ever thanks to a multi-layer polycarbonate shell. The full range of carry-on and check-in sizes are offered in existing colors Black and Pacific Blue, as well as new seasonal colour White and prints Gallery Floral and Blue Camo. Select sizes, including the International and Continental Carry-Ons (228260/228261) as well as the Short Trip and Large Trip Packing Cases (228264/228267), will be offered with expansion, affording these V3 pieces additional packing capacity.
Tegra-Lite® Max
Expandable, accessible, and effortless, the Tegra-Lite® Max assortment is TUMI’s most durable and fully functional hardside case. It expands and features a spacious, accessible front pocket and multi-directional, dual-recessed spinning wheels. In addition to existing colors T-Graphite and Black Graphite, the full range assortment will be offered in bold Crimson for the season (Crimson- UK only).
