As a photographer, there’s always a moment where adventure calls. Do you pack your expensive dSLR or opt for something less expensive but at the cost of quality pictures. Leica have taken this decision our of your hands with the launch of the new Leica X-U, a camera built for outdoor use designed to deliver outstanding picture quality in the harshest of conditions, including underwater photography.
As with all Leica’s there is a fast Leica Summilux 23mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens (equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format), alongside an underwater protection filter, and a large 16.5 MP (16.2 MP effective) APS-C CMOS sensor. It is a fully waterproofed member of the Leica X family created to return images with exceptional brightness and clarity, even in the harshest of conditions.
The ‘package’ is shock-resistant, dust-sealed and shatter-proof, ideal for action or underwater shooting, extreme sports, travel, architectural or landscape photography. Picture quality is almost a given with Leica, as is design and the X-U is made in Germany in collaboration with Audi Design for a stylish yet minimal aesthetic.
The Leica X-U (Typ 113) is available now from Leica stores and authorised Leica UK dealers, at a suggested retail price of £2,400.
