Dry skin is a topic often neglected by men’s grooming brands, in favour of the more common oily skin type in men. Particularly during the cooler months; with dry winter air, moisture sapping central heating and hot showers – skin can become overly dry. Your regular, lighter daily moisturiser may not be enough to fend off the elements, here are some solutions recommended for your bathroom shelf.

Face Cleanser

Use a face cleanser designed specifically for dry skin. It will ensure essential oils and moisture aren’t lost, preventing over-drying.

Recommended: Baxter of California Daily Face Wash £15/ 300ml – it will remove excess oil and skin debris without stripping away moisture.

Moisturiser

During the summer months it’s advisable to use a lightweight lotion for suitable moisturising. Conversely, during winter months a thicker, rich moisturiser is a better solution to provide 24hr hydration, nourish dry skin and absorb quickly ensuring no sticky residue.

Recommended: Malin + Goetz Replenishing Face Cream, £58. Replenish dull, dry, dehydrated skin. This rich cream restores skin’s glow by delivering deep, long-lasting hydration. Panthenol strengthens skin’s moisture barrier while watermelon maintains moisture. Jojoba and essential vitamins soften lines, even tone, smooth texture and protect skin from damaging free radicals.

Supplements

Try eating more fish, avocados, walnuts, vegetable oil and eggs to boost your intake of Omega-3. Omega-3 fatty acids can help strengthen cell walls to keep your skin hydrated, soft, and supple. Alternatively, take an Omega-3 rich supplement to optimise the condition of your skin and help prevent dryness.
