Upgrade your morning routine with a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine

I finally got my hands on a Nespresso coffee machine, the Vertuo to be precise. Having used Nespresso in many a hotel room in the past, and always been impressed with the coffee- it was time to invest.

In truth, despite being on the frontline of tech- I’ve always been a little confused as to how they work. I know, ridiculous. They are however, with a few seconds of learning, an incredibly easy and convenient way to drink superb coffee whenever you fancy a cup.

Nespresso’s latest creation is the aforementioned Vertuo ‘coffee brewing system’, available with 20 versatile capsule options for whichever flavour of coffee takes your fancy. The Vertuo system is quite revolutionary in the way it makes coffee with its unique Centrifusion™ technology.

The Vertuo range of 20 Grand Cru coffees are available in four different sized capsules to create a range of coffee cup sizes. The largest size, Alto (414ml) provides a very generous cup size, or for more of a regular-sized quantity- there’s the Mug size (230ml). And for that quick hit, the Gran Lungos (150ml) offer a prolonged version of an espresso while the Espresso blends (40ml) have a more intense flavour profile.

To begin the magic, touch the on/off button- where the Vertuo wakes and self-heats. Follow with the press of chrome bar to raise the ‘trap-door’, where your coffee pod of choice sits. The intelligent system automatically recognises the Grand Cru coffee pod variety being brewed and adjusts extraction parameters to create the perfect dark full-bodied coffee, finished with a silky and generous crema. When you’ve done the pod remains until next time where the raising action allows the used pod to slip backward into the collection pot. It’s worth noting too that water storage vessel is sizeable, so it won’t require filling constantly.

I can’t recommend it enough- not only is it a stylishly-sleek addition to my kitchen but for coffee-lovers, it’s a genuinely delicious pleasure to be enjoyed each morning.
