Complementing the already established offering at Harrods – the Gentleman’s Lounge covers a mix of fragrances, skincare and new technology from some of the grooming industry’s established and up and coming brands. Their tailored selection includes grooming products from skincare experts Lab Series, Biotherm Homme, MLab, Polaar and Nubo (with their exclusive Bio-Electric Buff), to name but a few. With a penchant for the unique, The Gentleman’s Lounge brings you the fragrance compositions of Czech & Speake, Creed, Tom Ford, Robert Piguet and even the exclusive Arsene Lupin from Guerlain’s most prestigious Maison Guerlain collection. The juxtaposition of modern brands alongside the classic sees Harrods tackle both the need for traditional grooming products alongside more recent innovations, such as Go Smile’s Teeth Whitening technology. Other technological products of note include the Slendertone Face for Men which is exclusively available at Harrods.
The Harrods Gentleman’s Lounge the ultimate answer to the ‘Bored Husband Seat’ – while she shops to her hearts content, you can sit back, have a Whiskey, a Wet shave, a read of the paper and leave looking better than she does. Victory.
Be it a Tête-à-tête, or a social after-work drink, the bar at The Gentleman’s Lounge caters for a wide variety of drinking requirements from freshly ground coffee to rare reserve whiskies, vintage Champagnes and specialised beers and spirits. For the first time in your shopping you’ll utter the words “Are you sure don’t want to have another look around?”, while simultaneously beckoning the bartender for a repeat order, checking your emails on the WiFi and catching up with the scores on the reassuringly large Flat Screen TV.
No grooming lounge would be complete without the services of a Master Barber and Harrods have collaborated with none other than The Refinery to provide their barbering, skincare and spa treatments. Complete your overall look with a precise hair cut by ‘Hair Expert’, Matt Stark, or perhaps enjoy a deep tissue massage to release that troubling gym injury, and an all-encompassing Body M-O-T.
HISTORY AND DESIGN: A FUSION OF OLD AND NEW
The Gentleman’s Lounge launched in the oldest part of the Harrods – the area that was formerly The Green Man Pub. In fact, the pub was originally known as ‘The Gentleman’s Lounge’ and was frequented by some of London’s most fashionable gentlemen who would spend long afternoons smoking cigars and discussing the politics of the day. In keeping with the origins of the space, Harrods worked with English Heritage and interior architects Callison to create a new space that retains the original features and ‘old-school’ club atmosphere of the former lounge, bringing a fresh, modern edge befitting of well groomed gentlemen. Smoked and frosted glass, steel, lit vitrines and polished wood veneers will pay homage to the gentry of Knightsbridge, offering a luxurious one-stop grooming emporium, situated in the comfort of a private lounge.
There you have it Gentlemen; you finally have a reason to take the other-half ‘shopping’.
